Understanding Digital Color. Learning color management is easier if you acquire the pertinent books

FLAAR is going through the same learning curve with color management as everyone else. My first lesson in ICC color profiles was at Ilford. The highly experienced operator just dropped in one ICC profile after another to see which gave the desired result…

I am not sure that is how it's supposed to happen, but in 1999 we did get fabulous color on an 8-color Ilford version of a ColorSpan printer.

Color management, digital color ... everything that is confusing to the millions of people that now have to learn how to scan and print digitally. At last books are available to help you.

Understanding Digital Color, 2nd edition, Phil Green, $65, hardcover (professionally printed and nicely bound).

This book covers: Fundamentals of Color, Color Measurement, Digitizing Color, Scanning and Digital Photography, Color Conversion and Separation, Color Management, PostScript and PDF, Output Systems, Workflow, File Preparation, Proofing, and Digital Printing.

Buy this book. Order it, read it, and profit from your increased knowledge. GATF also has tutorial programs on CD, which are probably better than after-market CDs from third party sources.

Most of our updates for November 2004 onward are in FLAAR Reports in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. It is more efficient for us to make new information available in PDF format. So if the web page itself is not updated, check out www.wide-format-printers.NET to see if the printer, RIP, or other subject is covered in an update in a PDF download.
